The other big event to check for is the second annual celebrity gala called B.I.G. Night Out. This takes place tomorrow night [Tuesday March 28th] with all proceeds going to fund the Christopher Wallace Foundation which provides educational assistance for kids residing in Biggie's old Brooklyn, neighborhood Last year this $1000 a plate dinner raised more then $250, 000 dollars. This year its expected to raise just as much money as all sorts of celebrities ranging from Russell Simmons to Wyclef Jean are expected to roll through. Speaking of Wyclef, he made some noise this past weekend when he abruptly changed the schedule to his college tour. He decided to join the ranks of Destiny's Child, Brian McKnight, Eric Benet and Gerald Levart to boycott the state of South Carolina. The reason being is that South Carolina continues to fly the confederate flag over the state's capitol. Wyclef's boycott is part of the movement pushed forth by the NAACP's call to economically impact the tourism industry in SC. It's interesting to note that while Wyclef and company managed to boycott South Carolina, they haven't bypassed Atlanta which is in Georgia. As you know, places like Georgia and Texas also fly the confederate flag. I guess the strategy is to impact one state and then follow through to the next one..The good news is that Wyclef took a stand on this issue...
